A new training year brings new opportunities

Here is a post that I sent to some folks in my neighbourhood today:

I wanted to share with our neighbourhood the opportunities that the Navy League and Sea Cadets can offer kids. I tried for several years to get my kids into scouts, but the programs were always full. Cadets, however, do many of the same types of activities. The programs are entirely free, and include the chance to go to summer camp programs (also free!). We do ask parents to help with fundraising by volunteering for two bingo nights each year.

Registration and info night for Navy League (ages 9-12) will be at 6:30pm Thurs Sept 5 2019 at the “Ship” (1708 10th Ave S.), and registration/info night for Sea Cadets (ages 12-18) is at 6:30pm Tues Sept 3 2019, also at the Ship. I’ve included some pics of the types of activities that we do.

My own personal contribution to this (other than a daughter who did cadets for 5 years) is that I run the band. Again, this is all free — if you have a kid who wants to try band, but the instrument rentals are too costly, come and see us as I have several instruments that I can loan out, and may be able to get more. Feel free to browse our site at navyleaguelethbridge.com or rcsccchinook.com, or look for Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 34 Chinook on facebook. You can also contact us via the link on the left.
